How do you remove stucco from out-dated walls and will you need to resurface the wall after?
It seems as though the wall underneath is cement. The room is an addition to the house before we bought it.
It's on the interior walls and ceiling.
Answer: With a sledge hammer. The walls will be framed with lumber, or brick (cinder blocks) if it was done right, then they probably put the stucco on. Beat the stucco off, then there will be a metal mesh (lathe) behind it that you will have to pull off, it will be nailed to the framework. If you are lucky, they sheathed the wall with plywood before they applied the stucco, if so you will just need to put on your housewrap and your surface, siding, or brick or whatever, if not you will have to completely sheath the wall, wrap it, then finish it, because there will be nothing left but framework after the stucco is removed. Be careful with the sledge hammer so you don't bust a stud or the sheathing if it was sheathed, or the block if it was just a block wall...hit it hard and firm, but not too hard because you do not want to damage the structure of the wall.
