Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems

EIFS was introduced in the United States in the 1970’s, and gained wide acceptance during the energy crunch of the early 1980’s. EIFS is a foam insulation system that can also be used as an exterior design medium. During the last fifteen years EIFS has been so heavily and effectively marketed that, with the exception of the few markets where Portland cement based stucco systems are the indigenous product, many people believe EIFS is stucco. Some of the advantages of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems include:

·

Can be installed with water management.

·

Light weight.

·

Provides effective wall insulation.

·

Flexible medium for exterior design elements.

·

Relatively easy to install.

·

May be upgraded for impact resistance.
